Indicted on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and two counts of home repair fraud, Johnny Ray Jordan, 61, was taken into custody on June 27.

Several Decatur-area residents reported home repair fraud to police in the months of April and May 2022, fearing they were the victims of scams.

Residents reported to authorities that they had paid a licensed contractor to finish work at their homes after hiring and appointing him, but that the job was never finished and that their money was not reimbursed.

Police identified Jordan as a suspect after conducting their investigation. Additionally, they discovered Jordan lacked an Alabama contractor license.

Jordan was brought to the Morgan County Jail and lodged there instead of posting the $40,000 bond that a Morgan County Circuit Judge had set.
