On YouTube, Natthamon Khongchak is known as Nutty’s Diary and has a channel with over 800,000 subscribers. She supposedly escaped to Malaysia. Natthamon, who presented herself as a successful forex trader, exploited her platform to entice victims into making investments by promising them large profits quickly.
With the promise of 25% returns for three-month contracts and 30% returns for six-month contracts, the YouTuber would ask investors to transfer money into her account. Nathhamon would guarantee a return of 35% and provide monthly payments for contracts lasting a year.
After not receiving the promised profits, investors start to grumble in April. On May 25, Natthamon wrote on Instagram that she had made a trading mistake and had lost all the money, but that she would reimburse her investors.
Then, on June 24, she declared that she was facing two lawsuits and wouldn’t be able to repay the investors if she were to go to jail.
One victim alone had deposits of almost 18 million baht ($495,228), according to Phaisal Ruangrit, a lawyer who represents scam victims.
