Jordan J. Monroe, age 31, of Chatham, had a single insurance charge brought against him on Wednesday as a result of an ongoing investigation that the Illinois Secretary of State Police began on February 13, 2021.
Monroe is claimed to have submitted a false insurance claim to National Interstate Insurance Company for a single policy in order to obtain $300 to $10,000, according to the criminal documents. Monroe must appear in Sangamon County Court on July 14th as a result of a fielded writ of habeas corpus.
According to a notice from the Secretary of State’s Office on June 23, Monroe’s Urgent Rent-A-Illinois Car’s license plates were cancelled because they didn’t comply with the state’s insurance regulations. After the CEO and owner of the company, Jordan Monroe, was detained following a high-speed chase in October of last year, the vehicle rental industry came under intense scrutiny. On East Morton Avenue in Jacksonville, Urgent Rent-A-Car once had a location. The company’s dubious business practices were frequently reported. The Illinois Better Business Bureau has given the company a current grade of “F.”
A copy of a Nationwide General Auto Insurance insurance policy was on display at Urgent at 2730 Stevenson Drive in Springfield. In February, the rule went into effect. The agency’s license plates and the current insurance coverage were both found to be valid, the company informed the SJR and in a Facebook video post, following an audit by the secretary of state’s office that was finished last week. Monroe has always denied any misconduct in interviews with WLDS News and several internet posts.
